I wrote this song with a few people in mind. I was touched by a story I heard on The Moth, a quote by Rachel Lee "There is Nothing Quite Like Missing You." I thought that was a beautiful concept, and wrote a song with her in mind, my friends Jonathan and Jordan as a couple for whenever they miss each other, and personally about a lingering feeling of longing that I've felt for a long time.
